Here’s the Box Breakdown
Our first glimpse inside Box Wars. Everything is really securely placed inside here.

Everything that we received in our Box Wars Subscription Box. We were seriously excited to start this project!
February’s prize is a $100 Visa Gift Card and a FREE March Box!

So what is all this stuff?

Our challenge for February. “The Art of War”
Using ONLY what is included in the box make a unique masterpiece.
They’ve even come up with a rubric for judging submission.
If you didn’t watch the unboxing – we’re EXTREMELY competitive people – so this… looked like fun.
Two pouches of jelly beans… not to eat mind you. These are merely for “arts sake”
We received 3 colors to work with; Burnt Umber, Deep Violet, and Bright Aqua Green.
We can handle this. At the time that we unboxed this we still hadn’t a clue what we were going to make but were confident in our creative abilities.
These cutie-cute easels are killing us! We’re inclined to think our Elf on the Shelf just got a new prop for next year!
Four paintbrushes, all with varying bristles.
We received two 3×3 canvases that fit perfectly onto our tiny easels!
Watch out now! Got to keep those jelly beans on somehow right?!

Okay, so now what?

We took a couple days and mulled it over. We weren’t sure exactly what to do and while a mosaic sounded fun – it’s going to be something everyone picks. We wanted to make ours stand out. We got our idea in the place we always get our best ideas… in bed at 1 am.
So our idea wasn’t just to use the canvases for the art but also the entire easel. See if you can figure out what we’re making!
So we applied paint to both canvases and easels and waited (patiently) for them to dry
We then super glued on some jelly beans to the center of each canvas.
Have you guessed yet?
Our final creations are these two spring flowers!
We tried to do a bit of texture on the canvas and we are not quite sure how that translated but we gave it our best!

So in summary

We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation, and presentation. Box War  is redefining something that traditionally is a one way street. The idea of a subscription box that serves as a game / contest is so much fun! This box came with tons of air packs and was presented great! The quality of everything was good, we received everything necessary to complete our project. And curation is great as well, someone has to come up with and pre-test these contests each month (fun job we think). But above all else we love the interaction that a box like Box War brings out. It’s a way to build a community and kind of get ideas from people and maybe even… inspire each other?
We just love, love this concept! And are intrigued with what’s to come in the future!
