Here’s the Box Breakdown
Our first glimpse inside the Bokksu Subscription Box
It’s important to note that this box came inside a USPS priority box as well – so it was securely packaged to say the least
Everything that we received in our Bokksu “Hokkaido” themed box.
Hokkaido is Japan’s second largest island and is renowned for it’s great agricultural products.

So what is all this stuff?

Our insert. We have to say we are impressed with the packaging. This striking red gets your attention and is also an important color (because of the Japanese flag and all)!
It lists all of the items that we received and also explains the region they chose. With each Bokksu you’ll receive a tea pairing – the insert also details the tea for that month.
D-Plus Natural Yeast Bread Hokkaido Cream
We’ve had cream breads before but this was nothing like those! We received two of these rolls that looked a lot like a hamburger bun – our kids helped us try these snacks out and because of this “hamburger bun” and the “french fries” coming up concluded this must be a Japanese happy meal.
The cream is infused into the roll. The cream they use is made in Tokachi and makes this a puffy dreamy sweet bread! These were LARGE, one goes a very long way!
Calbee Jaga Pokkuru
These potato sticks are salty and yummy – so you can imagine how happy we were to receive three! Made with 100% Hokkaido grown potatoes, this snack’s crispy texture is achieved through the unique cutting and processing they go through
The back of the package
We really enjoyed these! What a great addition to your lunchbox or a quick snack on the go!
 Yoshimi Oh! Yaki Toukibi
Our favorite item that we received in our Bokksu Subscription Box. There were three bags of this crispy sweet and savory snack included. Made in Sapporo this mochi and corn treat is sprinkled in soy sauce.
This had an amazingly unique and complex flavor. It was rich and buttery and just different in the best way possible! There were even little dehydrated corns in it!
Genmaicha Green Tea
This was our tea pairing for the month. Made with roasted brown rice this tea has a nutty flavor making it seem almost thicker than other teas. We think this goes exceptionally well with the Oh! Yaki snacks!
Fujiya Country Ma’am Bake Shop Northern Cheese Tart
Hokkaido cream cheese and cream round out this cheese tart. Four in total included this was the one item in this subscription box most comparable to an “American” styled snack
Imagine a cheesecake flavored cookie… and then at the end just a quick pop of lemon!
Oli loved these! His exact words were, “This is yummy… oh this is YUMMMMEEEE”
Ishiya Shiroi Koibito
This is said to be the most famous of all of the Hokkaido snacks and was also the box spoiler. We can see the popularity of these after trying them!
Coated in Langue de Chat with a white chocolate center these are small and mighty!
We have to admit that these along with almost everything else that we received in Bokksu are gone!

So in summary

We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation, and presentation. Bokksu is a great representation of a snack box. We love the packaging and the information provided about each item that we received! Presentation is great, they’ve gone to great lengths to get a unique look for the Bokksu Subscription Box and also to ensure that everything arrives to us exactly as it should. The quality is great. These are all authentic and premium Japanese snack foods and we LOVED them! Curation is awesome – the region was Hokkaido and they sent us products made in Hokkaido using the industry that Hokkaido is known for. Can’t beat that! We think this appeals to anyone who likes to try new snacks or likes Japanese or exotic snack foods! Even as a gift for the foodie in your life!
