Here’s the Box Breakdown
first look in the my russian box
Our first glimpse inside the My Russian Box. Super excited to see what’s in here!
what's in the my russian box
Everything that we received in our “Russian New Year” themed My Russian Box. This box is an exquisite taste of Russian food and culture!

So what is all this stuff?

Our box inserts include information about the Russian New Year and each of the items included in the box as well as a favorite Russian salad recipe!
These wooden ornaments are gorgeously painted in blues and whites perfect for this time of the year. We love the old world charm of these and the fact that they are wood.
snow maiden ornament
This hand painted wooden ornament has a picture of the Snow Maiden on it. The Snow Maiden is a character from Russian fairytales and more recently in lore she travels with Grandfather Frost and congratulates children and adults alike handing out gifts at New Year
And of course – there’s a surprise inside! This ornament is gorgeous – a beautiful and authentic accent to any tree!
vladamir zarubin cards
These Happy New Year cards are illustrated by Russian cartoonist Vladimir Zarubin the most popular Russian postcard artist to date.
This pack of 6 cards channels his most popular work. Small woodland animals all intended to make us smile and warm our hearts. These are our favorite item in this box. We love that we get to see a piece of cultural memorabilia we never would have otherwise.
There wasn’t any information on this pen included with the My Russian Box but it’s a great way to fill out our New Years Cards! Love the whimsical colors!
No better way to fill out cards than with a festive pen!
These Valenki Boots are a small exact replica of traditional wet felted boots. Popular in Russian Christmas decor these boots are an authentic Russian souvenir
imprinted gingerbread
We received 3 of these imprinted gingerbread cookies. Gingerbread is the oldest Russian sweet and there are many different variations. These are best served with warm Sbiten!
The patterns imprinted in each is beautiful and the cookies are soft and subtly spicy. A wonderful honey gingerbread!
At the Russian New Year sweets and candies are in abundance. These Marzipan candies are a Siberian delicacy. A mixture of ground pine nuts, whole milk powder and chocolate glaze – great for all the foodies out there!
These tasty little treats are truly delicious!
russian beeswax candles
These hand rolled beeswax candles make a festive addition to your New Year’s table.
These have a beautiful light honey scent and are interesting to look at.
There are two candles included in the box along with instructions on making a wish for the New Year!
A 100% cotton tea towel that depicts a Russian Winter scene. Pictured is a Russian Troika, Grandfather Frost the Snow Maiden and a Russian village scene. Tailored by a venerable Russian mill this towel is stunning!
And we have to say that it looks perfect in our kitchen!
The most interesting item that we received in our My Russian Box was Sbiten’ a traditional Russian drink made with honey and 12 herbs is said to lift the sagging spirit.
To use simply shake and add 2-3 teaspoons to water, tea, milk or red wine. You can drink Sbiten’ hot or cold. Some of the herbs that give this drink an elixir like quality are; cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, cardamom, ginger, St. John’s Wort. Marjoram, Basil, Coriander, Licorice Root, Calamus Root, mint, juniper, cranberries and blueberries! Wow!

So in summary

We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation, and presentation. The My Russian Box is an experience. We love the exposure we receive to a foreign culture and the quality of the items is amazing. Each of these items is selected for it’s wonderful handmade quality. We were truly impressed with the ornament. It is simply gorgeous! The presentation is excellent. Everything traveled very far and still got here in perfect condition. The curation is beautiful. This box is aesthetically pleasing as well as chock full of traditional Russian items perfect for the New Year. We were excited to receive this box but after seeing everything we love it even more than we thought we would – a wonderful cultural experience!
