Our first glimpse inside the Explore Local Subscription Box
what's in the explore local box
Everything that we received in our April Explore Local Box. This month’s destination? Boston, Massachusetts! A city we are quite familiar with!

So what is all this stuff?

Our box insert – full of Boston facts!
The reverse shows us where on the map we are visiting!
This pretty notecard has beautiful Spring blooms on the front and is blank inside so that you can insert your own message. A great way to drop a friend a note!
hearth and harrow tea towel
This kitchen herb tea towel is in the most gorgeous shade of hunter green! This tea towel is so cool – definitely our box favorite!
It has drawings of many herbs that can be grown in your kitchen. These towels are made with solvent free and non toxic inks, as well as with natural textiles and are packaged with eco-friendly materials!
The detail is beautiful!
doves & figs preserves
This 4.5 ounce jar of jam is DELICIOUS. Made with mission figs, apple and dried cranberry it was love at first bite!
This sweet jam is handmade in Arlington, Massachusetts
boston spice two if by sea
This small batch, hand blended spice mixture is perfect for cod, shrimp, scallops, flounder, halibut or haddock. Basically, if it lives in the water… douse it in this stuff! A blend of lemon, tarragon and green peppercorns gives your seafood a great New England flavor!
mccreas caramels
We LOVE McCrea’s – partly because the Big Boss used to be a scientist turned caramel confectioner.. the mission statement is to the point – honesty, integrity and making the best caramels in the world. So as you can imagine these vanilla caramels are delicious but the flavor variety at McCrea’s is amazing! Check out their site for the full listing!
This Pure Cacao package contains 2 discs of 70% dark chocolate that is full of flavor and texture. Certified organic and non-gmo we already love Taza Chocolate. Because Mr. I’m Not a Tree lived in Cambridge for 15 years we were curious to see what companies he had heard of in this box… sadly, Taza was the only one!

So in summary

We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation, and presentation. The Explore Local Box is a great way to explore different cities and taste and experience what each has to offer! We love the presentation – everything arrives perfectly. The quality is awesome – each item is amazing and really wonderfully made! Curation is SUPER! We love this grouping and really feel that we got a great variety of food items and the tea towel really set this box apart!
As far as box economy The Explore Local Box that we received costs $34.99 and for that we received $37 in items without the price of the notecard – so this is a good deal!
