Here’s the Box Breakdown
Our first glimpse inside the Basil Box. So pretty! And this is packaged with environmentally friendly materials which we love!
Everything that we received in our Basil Box! What an exciting bunch of goodies!
So what is all this stuff?

Coconut Coir Disc
All you have to do is add warm water and add this disc to your potting soil to have a lush place to plant your seeds. This disc is free of weeds and retains moisture better than regular soil. We have a little experience with these (only much smaller)
We received 5 packets of Mlgardener’s Heirloom and non-gmo seeds.
We received a Red Sails Lettuce. There are 1000 seeds in this packet
Yellow Carrots. There are 500 seeds in this packet
A Blue Shelling Pea. There are 40 seeds in this packet
And Watermelon Radishes! There are 250 seeds in this packet
Saved Seeds Packets
Additionally we received 5 packets to put our extra seeds into. These have areas where you can add the date of the seeds, the type of seed, variety and who saved them
And the back has a little area for any notes that you’d like to add
VermisTerra Soil Amendments
We received samples of both their Earthworm Casting and their Earthworm Casting Tea which are both soil enhancers that are made from earthworm compost. These will add beneficial bacteria and help your plant thrive while also warding off pests and disease. We’re actually really excited to use this! As always check our Instagram for updates as well as our snapchat (listed at the top of the site)
Winners Outfitters Fabric Pot
If you watched the unboxing you probably know we thought this was a bag… and it sort of is but really it’s a fabric pot (which is literally the coolest thing ever). Use this to plant one of your new seeds in! Since it has handles it’s a great way to move plants as well!
So in summary
We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation, and presentation. The Basil Box is a great way to begin gardening or even get a bunch a great stuff to enhance your gardening game! The presentation is awesome – we love that they use eco-friendly materials and think everything looked great. The quality is awesome – we are thrilled that they’ve included organic as well as non-gmo seeds and other products. And curation is fantastic. They’re right – all we have to provide is potting soil, sunlight and water!
