Here’s the Box Breakdown
first look in the club sci kidz box
Our first glimpse inside the Club SciKidz Box
what's in the club scikidz box
Everything that we received in our Club SciKidz Box. The October theme was “Spooky Science” in honor of Halloween.

So what is all this stuff?

Our box insert lists each of the items that we received in this box
Our activity guide goes through all of this month’s experiments and activities
Our first is “Scary Sounds” and then followed by a “Static Ghost”
Next we have 2 very hands on experiments with “Fake Blood” and “Can You See Me Now”
Next up is the Nature Experiment where we build a dancing bat!
Finally we have our Spooky Apothecary Jar which we thought was super cool as well as our Engineering Project… a Sci-Fi Energy Stick
The best part about this subscription is that each experiment is expounded on with micro-experiments you can do once you’ve finished your activities for the month. It’s honestly hours of endless fun with this subscription
Sci-Fi Stick
This will be used with our engineering project
Can you See Me Now
Everything for our phosphorescent goo project is here. There’s some borax, an empty tube and some Zinc Sulfide which will give our goo phosphorescence
Balloons
These items will be used in our spooky sounds and our static ghost experiment

Zombie Parts Candy
Every Club SciKidz Box comes with some small candy item. And because this was a spooky box we received some little zombie part gummies… eew!
Fake Blood
This packet included everything we need to create fake blood. There’s corn syrup, red food coloring and cocoa powder. The best part? It’s edible!
Bat Activity
In this packet we received everything we need to create our bat. Including googley eyes, a stick, a pipecleaner and velcro

Okay so now what?

Penny figured out the sci-fi stick before we ever even started the experiments … which was actually kind of impressive!
Next we did our phosphorescent goo which was a LOT of fun and pretty dang cool!
We mix our borax with our Zinc Sulfide and then fill our cup with water
Then we pour it back and forth to create those fun gooey bonds. Gotta love chemical reactions!
Then you put it in a tube and wait for dark! This really lights up – it’s awesome!
Next we moved on to the fake blood project. This wasn’t hard at all and was more about finding the right ratio to create a realistic fake blood
We allowed the kids to choose how much red food coloring and cocoa powder they would add
And we’ll be honest – the corn syrup made this a little tricky to mix up but eventually we got a very realistic color and consistency to the real thing!
Our static ghost project was probably the activity the girls had the most fun with. All you have to do is draw a ghost on toilet paper and then cut him out
Our little ghostie!
First we rub the balloon in our hair for 20 seconds which “activates” the electricity (also activates giggles). Then we “Pick Up” our ghost! Which was kind of hilarious!
Second to last we did our “Spooky Sounds” experiment. For this we put a hex nut in a balloon
Once it was in there we spun it around and listened for it to start making a noise and sure enough it made a really cool whizzing sound!
Our final craft is the bat nature craft. Here we’re building a bat that can go to sleep and dance and fly!
After applying googley eyes and a pipe cleaner we are ready to string this guy up
Here he is “flying” around!
Lots of fun for the kids!

So in summary

We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation, and presentation. The Club SciKidz Box is a great way to spend time with your kids that’s productive and educational. Each of the projects is fun and engaging and both adults and kids will definitely enjoy. The presentation is great, everything arrives perfectly. The quality is awesome. We love how everything is separated for us and all our ingredients are included. Curation is fantastic! Each of the experiments is well thought out and everything is easy to sort out and understand. We also love the micro-experiments and how they allow us to further delve into each of the activities each month. Great month from Club SciKidz
