Here’s the Box Breakdown

Our first glimpse inside the Spice Breeze package for January.

All the spices included in the January Spice Breeze package. We love how colorful these always look! So pretty!

So what is all this stuff?

Our first recipe hails from Ghana and is called Nkatenkwan.

Our first spice packet for this recipe includes both rosemary and bay leaves and the second.. grains of paradise. The recipe is a mixture of primarily okra and peanut butter and seems fairly easy to make

Another Ghanian dish this name is derived from the leaves that lend this meal its reddish color.

This doesn’t sound too hard and honestly sounds like a tasty way to enjoy beans and rice! Our first spice packet contains smoked paprika (Mr. I’m Not a Tree’s favorite spice) , thyme and bay leaves. And the second packet includes Grains of Paradise

Dukkah Lamb

This Egyptian dish includes both sesame seeds and hazelnuts for a rich umami flavor.

Our first spice packet contains toasted, organic sesame seeds and our second includes toasted coriander and toasted cumin

Nasi Goreng

This Indonesian recipe was voted second most delicious in the world by CNN readers and was created to use up any leftovers you have.

The flavors in our first packet of this kit are Galangal, turmeric, black pepper, nutmeg, amchoor, and tamarind. Our second packet contains just chili. Because this was voted the most delicious recipe… we figured we had to try it!

Okay so first….

We cook our rice. This dish is best served with day old rice.. but we didn’t have any.

Next we heat up 3 tbsp of oil in our pan

And we fry some chopped onion and garlic until it’s just golden brown

This recipe called for shrimp but we subbed that with chicken cut into one inch pieces

We then add our vegetables. We chose carrots and cabbage. We let this cook for 5-6 minutes

The vegetables should be just about cooked as well as your meat

Now you’ll add your seasoning packets, sugar, soy sauce and any of the optional ingredients you’d like

You’ll end up with something like this after you mix in your rice and allow all of these flavors and ingredients mingle together

Our finished meal! It was delicious and approved by everyone in our family

So in summary

We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation, and presentation. The Spice Breeze Subscription is one of our favorite subscriptions for cooking. We love the gorgeous package we receive each month as well as the fun flavors and exotic spices. The presentation is great, everything arrives perfectly and is packaged gorgeously. The quality is fantastic. Most, if not all the spices are organic and are made in small batches to ensure quality. And curation. We love the colors that we receive in these packages and the exotic meals that Spice Breeze works so hard to create!
